Missiles silence Thunder on road

Hawks boys & girls bowlers earn sweep in South Beloit

The Milledgeville girls basketball team cruised to a 65-35 win at West Carroll on Wednesday.

Milledgeville led 20-10 after the first quarter, then held the Thunder to six in the second quarter to take a 34-16 halftime lead.

Mady Frederick scored 26 points for Milledgeville. Rebecca Waite added 18, and Sabreena Hartman scored nine.

Jena Sidvy led West Carroll with nine points.

Riverdale 49, Fulton 29: Abigail Weaver had 11 points, five steals and four rebounds for the Rams in a TRAC West home win against the Steamers.

Boys basketball

Bureau Valley 77,
Morrison 47: The Storm went on the road and gained a 30-point TRAC crossover win against the Mustangs.

Boys bowling

Oregon 3,541, South Beloit 2,921: Justin Poole rolled games of 224, 249 and 202 for a 675 series as the Hawks beat the SoBos at Viking Lanes in South Beloit.

Rounding out the Oregon lineup were Kyle Strite (653), Austin Strite (597), Eddie Buttens (563), Tyler Meyers (538) and Jacob Smith (515).

Brandon Redieske had a 626 series to lead South Beloit.

Girls bowling

Oregon 3,007, South Beloit 2,183: Caitlyn Kaltenbrun had games of 213, 167 and 205 for a 585 series to lead the Hawks past the SoBos in South Beloit.

Also competing for the Hawks were Rebecca Meyers (510), Samantha Meyers (504), Taylor McKinzie (491), Anna Head (486) and Hannah Kaltenbrun (431).

Karyssa Myhres had a 549 series for South Beloit.


LaSalle-Peru 46, Sterling 20: Isaiah Figueroa (138 pounds) and Turner Garcia (160) won by pin for the Golden Warriors in a road loss to the Cavaliers.

Noah Garcia (132) and Cade Lyons (220) won by major decision.
