It’s that time of year when one of the biggest headaches can be coming up with the right gift for those on your holiday shopping list. Clothes are out because of the troubles with matching sizes and taste. Food is a no-go because of diets. Electronic items can be too expensive.

One solution is to pick up one of the many DVD sets that are available. All you need to know is what kind of TV shows or movies the person watches, and there is a set that will match the passion. Plus, watching DVDs never caused weight gain and the prices are varied enough to fit most budgets.

Here are 20 suggestions of DVD sets to consider as holiday gifts. The suggested retail price is listed but the sets often can be found at a much lower cost.

“2017 World Series Collector’s Edition: Houston Astros” (DVD $59.99, Blu-ray $79.97): The eight-disc set covers every inning, every play and every moment from the 2017 Fall Classic. The set includes all seven complete World Series games, as well as the pennant-clinching ALCS Game 7 at Minute Maid Park. Each disc features an insert with official stats, game trivia and more.

“Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Collection” ($82.98): Set includes 15 films directed by Hitchcock including “Psycho” and “Vertigo” plus 10 episodes from the TV series hosted by the director.

“Close Encounters of the Third Kind 4K” ($75.99): The 1977 film starring Richard Dreyfuss, Teri Garr and Melinda Dillon is being re-released to mark the 40th anniversary. It’s the tale of what happens when after an encounter with U.F.O.s, a line worker feels undeniably drawn to an isolated area in the wilderness where something spectacular is about to happen.

“iZombie: The Complete Third Season” ($24.98): TV’s liveliest zombie series from executive producers Rob Thomas (“Veronica Mars”) stars Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley and David Anders. The three-disc DVD set includes all 13 episodes from the third season, plus deleted scenes and the 2016 Comic-Con Panel.

“Men in Black Trilogy 20th Anniversary 4K Collection” ($75.99): The production filled with intergalactic invaders, renegade monsters and time travel prove to be all in a day’s work for agents Kay and Jay of the Men in Black (Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith).

“Spider-Man Limited Edition Collection” ($29.96): The trilogy from director Sam Raimi follows Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) as he becomes the web-slinging Spider-Man and battles super-villains Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman and Venom. It is packaged in a limited edition 36-page Digibook featuring photos and behind-the-scenes detail.

“CSI: Miami – The Complete Series” ($111.99): The series was inspired by the top-rated series “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.” The action moved from Las Vegas to South Florida where a team of forensic investigators use both cutting-edge scientific methods and old-fashioned police work to solve crimes.

“Green Acres: The Complete Series” ($139.99): Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor play a New York couple who move to a small farm in desperate need of repairs. Includes all 170 episodes.

“Game of Thrones: The Complete Seventh Season” ($59.99): The most recent season of “Game of Thrones” featured the most-watched premiere and finale episodes in HBO history, and the series remains the most-awarded drama series in Emmy history, with 109 nominations to date and winning the 2015 and 2016 trophy for Best Drama Series.

“Elementary – The Fifth Season” ($49.99): The set offers a look at the 100th episode of the CBS series alongside the production team’s recreation of props and costumes for the byzantine story; Lucy Liu and Aidan Quinn as they take turns in the director’s chair; deleted scenes; and a gag reel.

“The Red Skelton Hour in Color: Deluxe Collection” ($199.95): Red Skelton entertained TV audiences for 20 seasons on CBS with characters including country bumpkin Clem Kadiddlehopper, Sheriff Deadeye and hobo Freddie the Freeloader. The show also attracted huge guest stars such as John Wayne, Vincent Price and Jerry Lee Lewis. This set includes 65 hours of that material.
