Holiday spirit grows on trees at Northland Mall

Pam Machan decorates a tree Monday at Northland Mall in Sterling. Machan and members of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church craft group took on the task of trimming a tree for the Rock River Hospice & Home’s Festival of Trees. The festive forest has been set up for the 28th annual event – a fundraiser for the hospice facility that features more than a hundred trees and place settings for a silent auction, The Country Store, and entertainment. The event runs through Sunday at the mall, 2900 E. Lincolnway, and people can stop buy to place bids through Sunday afternoon. The week-long festival also will feature entertainment. Tuesday’s lineup: At 5 p.m., the String A Longs will play dulcimer music, followed by piano music from Woodlawn Arts Academy at 6 p.m. and Sister Philomene at 7 p.m. Go to hospicerockriver.org for more information.
