LaSALLE – The Standard man who had been charged with concealing his sister-in-law’s death is now facing a murder charge.
A Putnam County grand jury returned an indictment today against Clifford Andersen, 67, in the death of Deborah K. Dewey, 62, of Ladd.
Dewey was last seen alive on Aug. 22, 2016, in Spring Valley. A week later, her 2007 Buick LaCrosse was discovered in Morris at the TA Truck Stop/R Place restaurant just north of Interstate 80. The vehicle was unlocked and undamaged and her purse was still inside.
Her body was found on Sept. 12, 2016, in a shallow grave at a vacant house at 104 Fifth St. in Standard – wrapped in a blanket and tied up with rope and duct tape. Dental records confirmed it was Dewey.
Andersen was first charged with concealment of a death, on Sept. 13, but that was elevated a few days later to concealment of a homicidal death. He pleaded not guilty to that charge in November.
He remains in custody at the Peoria County Jail
