STERLING – Marjorie J. Long, 94, of Rock Falls, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at Sterling Pavilion.

Marge was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Rock Falls, in the house her father built. She was the daughter of Peter and Agnes (Osmundsen) Rogness. Marge was a graduate of Rock Falls High School and received her registered nurse degree from SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford. She married Paul L. Long on Jan. 29, 1944, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling, where she was a lifelong member. For many years, Marge worked at Sterling Rock Falls Clinic for Dr. Tom and Dr. John McDonnell.

Survivors include her son, Gary Long of Rockford; two sisters, Beverly Kobbeman of Rock Falls and Ruth Johnson of Duluth, Minnesota; nieces, Jill (Dennis) Reed of Snohomish, Washington, Kelly (Marcia) Collins-McMurry of Columbia, Maryland, Meg (John) Steinke of Crystal, Minnesota, and Kristin (Jeff) Block of Minneapolis; nephew, Tim (Greta) Johnson of Duluth; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Glenn; husband, Paul; and brothers-in-law, Webb McMurry, Ted Johnson, and Ed Kobbeman.

The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Leo Patterson officiating. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling.
