DIXON – Charles J. Conner, 56, of Dixon, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at his home, with his wife and daughters at his side. He was employed with Bonnell Industries in Dixon for 35 years, before his retirement in 2014, due to illness.

Charlie was born March 27, 1961, in Princeton, the son of Ormond and Bernice “Ann” (Norden) Conner. Charlie shared his life with his high school sweetheart, Denise Tornow. They married on Nov. 28, 1981. Together they raised two amazing daughters. Charlie enjoyed riding his motorcycle and cruising in his Nova, hunting, and being outdoors, but most of all he loved entertaining in his garage with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 37 years, Denise Conner of Dixon; two daughters, Andrea (Brook) Meier of Blue Grass, Iowa, and Allison (Jake) Harrison of Milwaukee; his father, Ormond Conner; one brother, Steve (Mendy) Conner of Ohio; one sister, Nancy (Tom) Dale of Geneseo; and his three precious – perfect grandchildren, Evelyn and Eiley Meier, and Ruby Harrison.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Conner.

Cremation rites have been accorded. The Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon, with a celebration of life gathering from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Elks Lodge in Dixon. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established to Lee County Historical and Genealogy Society, to further the efforts of local Boy Scouts in replacing and restoring old headstones in local cemeteries.
