THOMSON – Two area radio stations are back in local hands for the first time since 1998.
A deal was finalized last week for Monmouth-based Prairie Radio Communications to sell KMCN (MAC 94.7-FM) and KCLN (1390-AM) to Clinton, Iowa-based Gendreau Broadcasting.
Gendreau is owned by Brad and Ashley Gendreau of Thomson. The couple also own the Iron Horse Fitness Clubs in Clinton, Iowa, and Savanna, and Savanna Auto Sales in Savanna.
“We are very excited to have the stations back in the hands of local business people,” Chris Streets, general manager and longtime morning show host, said. “Brad and Ashley are a forward-thinking couple who have invested a large amount of time and money into the Clinton community. The employees of the station have been long-time residents of the community. We have worked hard to support and help community efforts and with the ownership now being local, that support will only grow.”
No changes are planned at this time for the stations.
The stations are located at 1853 442nd Ave. Clinton, Iowa. Go to 947mac.com for more information.
