Local group to host candidate on Wednesday

I am a member of Action for Better Tomorrow – Sauk Valley. Our organization does not endorse specific candidates but, instead, encourages our members to listen to all candidates so that we can make an informed decision prior to going to the polls.

While we have mainly hosted Democratic candidates for specific offices, we have also attended a legislative update hosted by U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger and have hosted a question-and-answer session with state Rep. Tom Demmer.

I am a person who has voted for Republicans and Democrats, and I a former federal auditor who was responsible for holding government officials accountable for their actions. As such, I want to make sure that I am voting for the individual who will best address the needs of their constituents in an honest, forthright manner.

Having said that, I encourage everyone to attend a meeting at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 8, when Action for Better Tomorrow will host Sara Dady, a Democratic candidate for the 16th Congressional District.

Sara is a mother, a community activist, and an immigration lawyer who told us, at an earlier meeting, of the very positive impact that immigrants have on our economy. We are looking forward to hearing Sara’s views on not only immigration, but also on other issues that directly affect our lives.

So please join us, no matter your political persuasion, on Nov. 8 at Lee County Democratic Headquarters at River and Hennepin Streets. I look forward to seeing you there!
