STERLING – A Tampico man who lost control of his bicycle last week and ended up under a semitrailer is now in fair condition at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, a hospital spokesman said today.
Ronald B. Sharp, 55, was riding his bike around 3 p.m. Thursday on Avenue G near West Third Street when he lost control, fell under a semitrailer that was stopping at the intersection, and was struck by its rear wheels, Sterling police said.
He was taken to OSF in critical condition with unspecified but nonlife-threatening injuries.
The driver, Paul L. Irlacher, 49, of Cherry Valley, was not injured, nor will he be cited in the incident, police said.
