Congressional candidate will speak next week in Dixon

DIXON – People of all political leanings are invited to hear Sara Dady, Democratic candidate for the 16th Congressional District, speak at noon Wednesday at Lee County Democratic Headquarters, 77 S. Hennepin Ave.

Dady, of Rockford, an immigration lawyer and a community activist, will be speaking at a meeting of Action for Better Tomorrow – Sauk Valley.

She is one of eight who have announced their intentions to run for the seat now held by U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, who is seeking re-election.

They are Democrats Dady, Nathan Arroyave of Rockford, Amy Murri Briel of Joliet, Christopher Minelli of Ottawa and Neill Mohammad of DeKalb, and Republicans Jason Haskell of Peru, Zane Marshall of Rockford, and James Marter of Oswego,

The 16th District covers all of Lee, Ogle, Bureau, Boone, Grundy, Iroquois, LaSalle, Livingston, and Putnam counties, and parts of DeKalb, Ford, Stark, Will and Winnebago counties.

​The deadline to file petitions for county and state offices is 5 p.m. Dec. 4. The primary is March 20.
