Helen M. Stark

HOBBS, N.M. – Helen Marie Stark (née Arnold) of Hobbs, formerly a longtime resident of Crete, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017.

She was born Aug. 2, 1931. Helen worked as a licensed practical nurse at Oak Forest Hospital before transferring to Cottage Grove Health Center in Ford Heights. After she retired, she split her time between her children and her retirement home at Woodhaven in Sublette. Helen’s love of animals is unquestionable. She loved her time as a volunteer at El Paso Zoo in Texas.

She was the beloved mother of Sharon Priller of Hobbs, Carrie Stark Basel of Lovington, New Mexico, Ralph (Peggy) Stark of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Teresa Stark of Sterling, and loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald W. Stark Sr. in 1979; cherished granddaughter, Jillian Basel Salinas in 2010; and devoted son-in-law, John Priller in 2015.

There are no services at this time.

The family has requested that any donations be made to the El Paso Zoo in her honor, by visiting elpasozoosociety.org, or El Paso Zoo, P.O. 10179, El Paso, TX 79995.
