FENTON, Mo. – Eugene Henry Sutton, 98, fell peacefully asleep in the Lord’s arms Monday, Oct. 23, 2017.
Eugene was born Jan. 27, 1919, in Harmon, the son of Avery and Edna (Bine) Sutton. He married Jennie Bohms on April 11, 1947, in Morrison. She died Dec. 22, 2007. Eugene was a paratrooper in World War II, and retired from International Harvester. Besides his family, Eugene’s passion was attending Mass everyday and being a loving servant of our Lord.
He was a loving father to Mary (Dave) Miller of St. Louis, and Bill (Tina) Sutton of Memphis, Tennessee; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and six sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, and Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. James Keenan officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in Eugene Sutton’s name.
