Kids scattering nails on driveways in Rock Falls

ROCK FALLS – Police are looking for a group of youngsters who've been scattering nails on residents' driveways.

The Rock Falls Police Department has received about 20 reports since the summer from residents finding the nails, which are being dropped on drives mostly in the overnight hours between Sunday evenings and Monday mornings, Cmdr. Jay Koett said Wednesday.

The incidents are random and located all over town. Several residents' cameras have identified what appears to be children between the ages of 11 and 16, with at least one of them riding a scooter.

Koett is asking residents to be watchful if they see somebody out in the early morning hours, and parents should check that they aren't missing large amounts of nails and to make sure their children are home.

Call 815-622-1140 or find the department on Facebook for more information.
