Byron man hurt Saturday in crash

BYRON – A Byron man remained in fair condition Monday after suffering injuries in a single-vehicle rollover at the intersection of state Route 2 and Meridian Road, about 3 miles west of Rockford.

A vehicle driven by Duane C. Hatfield, 77, was southbound about 11:44 p.m. when he struck a tree and overturned after he failed to stop at the intersection, according to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office.

Hatfield was charged with disobeying a stop sign and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was released on an individual bond.
