Dive into Depot Days next weekend

AMBOY – The annual Depot Days festival will again take over downtown next weekend.

Food stands and craft booths will be open throughout the festival, which begins Aug. 24 with Family Night. Carnival rides will be $2 each from 6 to 10 p.m.

Community-wide garage sales will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Sunday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The carnival will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Armbands are $20 each day for unlimited rides.

Tickets will be sold throughout the weekend for the festival’s annual 50-50 raffle. Chad Hudson of Harmon won last year’s raffle, walking away with $139,903.

Also on Thursday, The Depot Days Little Dancers will perform at 6:30 p.m. on the main stage. The Miss Amboy Pageant and Little Miss Amboy will follow at 7 and the winners will be announced at 8:30.

Other events will include:

Friday: The Neverly Brothers will perform from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on the main stage, and there will be live entertainment from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the K.C.’s Beer Garden.

Saturday: Annual 5K at 7:30 a.m.; pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon at the fire station; the parade at 3 p.m.; music by Eileen Quest from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and Whiskey Romance from 7 to 9 p.m. on the main stage; fireworks at 9 p.m.; and music from Burn ’N Bush from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the beer garden.

Sunday: Annual car, truck and motorcycle show from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.; pancake breakfast from 6:30 to 10 a.m.; 50-50 raffle winner and car show awards at 3 p.m.
