DIXON – About 2 miles of additional fiber network will reach the city’s industrial park off Interstate 88, Comcast Business announced Friday.
After completing the buildout, faster internet access of up to 10 gigabits per second and other features like voice and cloud services will be available to the 20 some businesses around South Galena Avenue and Progress Drive.
“Bringing Comcast’s fiber to the doorsteps of even more Dixon businesses will help them compete with businesses inside the region and across the country,” Mayor Li Arellano Jr. said in a news release. “In addition, access to this kind of internet service speed will give Dixon businesses the ability to employ the latest technologies, technologies that will help them better serve their customers and expand.”
Speeds of up to 100 gigabits will be available on a case-by-case basis.
“Our network provides increased bandwidth, and that means more businesses can do more with their IT resources, like access more applications and services in the cloud, accommodate rapidly increasing numbers of employees in the field using mobile devices and exchange large amounts of data with business partners,” said Jay Dirkmaat, regional vice president of Comcast Business.
Comcast Business is a subsidiary of Comcast Cable, focusing on small, medium and large businesses.
