ROCK FALLS – Demolition work at the Limestone Building on West First Street will start next week, but it is likely to be backed up a day or two.
The demolition was to begin Monday, but heavy rainfall received by much of the state has backed up the fencing contractor's schedule.
Terracon, the city's environmental consultants, have told the city that the demolition team will be at the site Tuesday, but can do only work that doesn't require fencing. The crew should be able to start all aspects of the project Wednesday.
Green Demolition Contractors of Chicago received the bid to do the job.
West First Street will remain open, but there will be no access to the lower dam while the building is being torn down. The work should be completed in 3 to 4 weeks.
The site will be a no-trespassing zone at night and anyone in violation will be arrested.
