Special thanks to this newspaper, and staff writer Ali Braboy, for the excellent coverage of the Jim Wiltz dedication. He deserved having the auditorium named in his honor at Dixon High School. He fully earned his “stripes”!
The large crowd, raised on short notice, clearly shows how much he is loved and respected by former students and friends in this community.
School Board President Jill Stoker and Superintendent Margo Empen deserve a big thank you from all of us. We are so happy with the decision.
Board Secretary Linda Wegner was extremely valuable in helping us, in many ways, get this honor bestowed on Jim.
Marci Wiltz, Jim’s daughter, did a great job organizing this dedication program. She also was outstanding as the master of ceremonies.
Marci received a lot of helpful support from her mother, Sharon, and my wife, Marilyn Trulock. The three combined their efforts to provide a successful program that pleased those in attendance. In my opinion, that attendance reached more than 400 people.
During his teaching career, Jim Wiltz was always a “giant” in serving the Dixon community. Upon request, he supplied music for many public events. Jim also was the choir director at St. Patrick Church for many years.
In closing, I want to express my total happiness for this dedication honor for Jim. It was always my hope that he would receive this award.
Jim served on an outstanding faculty. The pay was not very good, but love for young people was the foundation for our success!
We only walk through life but once. However, what we do for others will never be forgotten. Jim Wiltz was always busy doing things for others!
It is nice to know that this dedication means Jim Wiltz will be a part of his “second home” forever!
