ROCK FALLS – Bargain hunters will get a chance to bag some good deals and help children’s charities at the same time.
Jenny Chagala, 26, a self-described “avid thrifter,” will join her mom, Candi Bomleny, 49, of Princeton, behind the counter at Second Chance Thrift Store, 1000 First Ave., in the same shopping center as Dollar General.
Chagala, 26, of Manlius, leased the building in April and still has few months of work left before opening for business. Part of her proceeds will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and other children’s charities, she said
“I just really wanted to do that for future children,”
Her five children – Chloe, 8, Isabella, 7, Lilianna, 7, Anarosa, 6, and Jose, 4 – were a huge inspiration for her decision.
She and her husband, Jose, 31, moved the family to Manlius from Rock Falls 2 years ago.
When she decided to open a thrift store, she knew her former hometown would be the perfect spot – Manlius is a bit small, Chagala said.
She’s taking donations of most things, but won’t accept beds, bed frames, box springs, cribs, broken furniture, soiled or stained clothing, box TVs, large appliances, or medical equipment.
The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Call 815-719-3228 or email email@example.com or search for Second Chance Thrift Store on Facebook for more information.
