My parents, Jim and Marianne Hardt of Rock Falls, were blessed to celebrate 60 years of marriage last week. My entire family came to Rock Falls to help them celebrate this big occasion.
After a special Mass at St. Andrew’s, we had dinner at Candlelight Inn on First Avenue. Tom, the general manager, went above and beyond to ensure the celebration went off without a hitch. I have been in food service for much of my life, and I can honestly say I have never seen a more flawless execution of an off-the-menu service for 16 people.
The last order was taken and mere seconds later, the first salad was served! Our server, Michelle, didn’t forget a single item requested. No one wanted for a thing.
And the food? Delicious and plentiful! I can’t say enough good things about the event, the venue, the staff, and the management. I was truly impressed!
We stayed at the new Holiday Inn Express where the accommodations and staff were top-notch. We even had a beautiful sunset over the Rock River. Later that night, we bowled at Blackhawk Lanes in Sterling. The staff there went out of their way to ensure we had a great time, too.
All in all, I felt Rock Falls rolled out the red carpet for us. I was beyond impressed – not an easy thing for a city girl!
On behalf of my parents and my entire family, thank you, Rock Falls, for making my parents’ anniversary unforgettable!
