BASEBALL

4 Steamers named first-team all-TRAC

Fulton had four players named to the Three Rivers Conference West all-conference first team. Junior pitcher Erik North, senior infielder Cole McClary, junior outfielder Seth Sikkema and junior utility man Cody Sanderson were honored.

Morrison junior pitcher Allan Menisma and senior catcher Cody Southern were also honored.

Two Panthers and two Comets were named to the TRAC East first-team all-conference team.

Erie-Prophetstown senior pitcher Kale Orman and junior outfielder Jordan Pierceson were honored, along with Newman senior pitcher Ethan Hafner and senior outfielder Ryan Rude.

4 Cougars named to NUIC West first-team

The NUIC West all-conference baseball first team includes Eastland junior pitcher Ethan Christians, junior catcher Brett Swalve, senior infielder Brighton Haverland and senior outfielder Payton Clouse.

West Carroll junior catcher Kody Plattenberger, junior infielder Kaleb Plattenberger, junior utility player Mitch Glazier and junior outfielder Cory Simpson were also named to the first team.

In the East, Amboy sophomore infielder Mitchell McLaughlin was named a first-team performer.

Long, Pillars take BNC honors

The Big Northern Conference recognized a pair of local players on the all-conference baseball first team.

Dixon sophomore pitcher, catcher and third baseman Andrew Long was named to the team, as was Rock Falls senior catcher and pitcher Logan Pillars.

3 Fillies tabbed TRAC West first-teamers

Three Morrison players were named to the Three Rivers Conference West all-conference first team, led by a unanimous pick in senior pitcher Lauren Rice.

Senior infielder Emma Melton and senior designated player Ellie Schmidt were also honored.

Fulton junior pitcher Madison Whitmore was also named first-team.

Newman senior pitcher Lakyn Waldschmidt, sophomore second baseman Madison Craft and sophomore utility player Jenna Johnson were named first-team in the East, along with Erie-Prophetstown senior pitcher Bekah Ryan, senior catcher Ashley Davis, freshman infielder Erica Thulen and sophomore outfielder Sophia Sullivan.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Sterling grad earns slew of honors

Former Sterling softball player and recent Evangel University grad Cassidy Gillihan was named to the academic all-district team by the College Sports Information Directors of America for her 3.8 GPA. Daktronics named her one of its NAIA Scholar Athletes. She was also one of 13 Crusaders named All-America Scholar Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
