Logan Pillars is Rock Falls High School’s March Student of the Month. His parents are Ronnie and Jennifer and his brother is Owen, 13.

Favorite class: Chemistry. I really like my teacher, Mrs. Purdy, and I get to do very interesting experiments and do math in context.

Least-favorite class: English. I was never very good at it. 

School activities in which you participate? Baseball, basketball, and football, 4 years for each.

Civic, church, volunteer, or other activities in which you participate? I volunteer through St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling.

What will you do after high school? I will attend Parkland College in Champaign to play baseball and study biological sciences.

How would you describe your group of friends? My friends are all very funny and very diverse. We are all good at something different. 

What is something you learned in high school that you think you will never use? How to correctly use a gerund.

What kind of music are you listening to? I listen to almost everything, but my favorite is classic rock.

What in your life can’t you do without? Baseball or my phone. 

What is your advice for surviving high school? Get involved. It goes by much faster if you stay busy. 

If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be? Add air conditioning.

If you could try any job for a day, what would it be? I would be a roller coaster tester; that job has to be fun. 

If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would it be? Yankee Stadium.

What is a good book you read recently? “Hatchet” by Gary Paulson. It’s about a boy who survives a small plane crash and must survive in the woods by himself. It was very good and I have read it several times.

What is your proudest moment? Graduation, because it means that I have begun a new chapter in my life. 

Who is your hero or role model? Jakob Junis, because he came from my town and made it to MLB, which is a dream of mine.
