Rock Falls High School May Student of the Month: Kaitlin Brown

Kaitlin Brown. 18, is Rock Falls High School's May Student of the Month. Her parents are Shane and Michelle Brown and her sister is Linsey, 22.

Favorite class: Math. It challenges me in ways other classes don’t and pushes me to work my hardest.

Least-favorite class: History. I have never really had an interest in the topic.

Favorite teacher: Deena Gallentine, math and Mindy Porter, science. Both teachers pushed me to work to my full potential and not slack off.

School activities in which you participate: Cheerleading, president of the National Honor Society and Student Council.

Do you have a job? I work at CGH Medical Center as a CNA in pediatrics.

How would you describe your group of friends? Outgoing, fun to be around and crazy.

What will you do after high school? I will attend Sauk Valley Community College to become a registered nurse.

What is something you learned in high school that you think you will never use? The quadratic formula.

What kind of music are you listening to? Country

What’s the one thing in your life you can’t do without? My phone.

What is your advice for surviving high school? Be as involved as possible and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Teachers are always willing to help.

If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be? Air conditioning; there is no air conditioning in the whole school right now, so at the beginning and end of the year it is extremely hot.

What scares you? Not being able to live up to the expectations that others have for me. I strive to work as hard as possible and always try to be the best that I can be.

What’s something about you that nobody knows? When I was younger, my elbow used to pop out of place.

If you could try any job for a day, what would it be? A fetal surgeon.

If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would it be? I have always dreamed of traveling to Paris and plan to someday soon.

What is your proudest moment? Being accepted into the nursing program at Sauk while still in high school. The nursing program is very competitive, so being accepted now is a big deal to me.

Who is your hero/role model? My dad. He is one of the most fun people to be around and proves every day that hard work pays off.

What do you think your life will be like 10 years from now? I hope to be an obstetrics, pediatric, or neonatal nurse.

Shout out: To my friends Katyn, Karlie, Karley and Olivia.
