A parade of provinces makes its way through Fulton on Saturday along a downtown street lined with spectators who turned out to watch the city’s annual Dutch Days Festival. The event celebrates the city’s Dutch heritage, which stretches back to 1835 when the first permanent Dutch settlers claimed their their stake in the area. The 2-day citywide celebration started life as a community meal in 1974 when the Community Christian School Auxiliary organized the first authentic Dutch Dinner. Today, the event includes a parade, crafts, concession stands, Dutch dancing and costumes, a car show, a 5K walk/run, music and more. The theme for this year's event was "Chocolate the Dutch Way."
