ROCKFORD – Ogle County residents who use Northern Illinois Food Bank will benefit from Walmart's 11th annual “Fight Hunger. Spark Change.” campaign.
According to a news release, the Feeding America nationwide network of 200 food banks, one of which is Northern Illinois Food Bank, stands to receive part of the campaign goal of at least 100 million meals. Last year, NIFB received more than $219,000 from Walmart’s campaign.
Participating companies include Discover, Campbell Soup Co., General Mills, Kellogg Co., Kraft Heinz Co., and PepsiCo.
Ways to take part include:
• Until Monday, for every participating product purchased at U.S. Walmart stores, or Discover card transaction at the U.S. Walmarts or walmart.com – the supplier will donate the equivalent of one meal, or 9 cents, on behalf of a Feeding America member food bank, up to applicable limits.
• Creating online acts of support, such as original content on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter using #FightHunger; liking, sharing, or reacting positively to campaign content; clicking on Walmart provided campaign content; and using Walmart provided Fight Hunger. Spark Change
For each online act of support, Walmart will donate the equivalent of 10 meals, or $90 cents, to Feeding America, up to $1.5 million.
• Donating at the register during checkout.
