POLO – M. Virginia Roberts, 92, of Polo, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.  

Virginia was born July 7, 1924, in rural Polo, the daughter of Floyd and Mary (Jones) Binkley. On Nov. 30, 1946, in Lanark, she was united in marriage to George W. Roberts. He preceded her in death in August 2002. Virginia graduated from Polo High School and was a lifelong member of West Branch Church of the Brethren in Forreston. She enjoyed feeding the birds and tending to her flowers. 

Survivors include daughters, Cindy (Elmer) Stauffer of Polo and Linda (Rick Sarver) Powell of Dixon; son, Larry (Joy) Roberts of Polo; sister-in-law, Betty Stoner; grandchildren, Melissa (Derick) Newton, Scott (Ellie) Roberts, Cory (Megan Rooney) Stauffer, and Chad (Ali Clifft) Stauffer; and great-grandchildren, Parker and Trevor Newton.

She also was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenny; sister, Alice Miller; and nephew, Bob Binkley.

A private family service will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, where she will be buried next to her husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to West Branch Church of the Brethren in Forreston.

Polo Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
