Bar Association members recognized

Whiteside County Bar Association members Michelle Buckwalter-Schurman (left) of Morrison and Kelli D. Walker right) of Sterling have received Thomas Kilbride Awards for recognition of their volunteer work serving the legal needs of the poor. The awards were presented by Gretchen Farwell, Prairie State Legal Services Rock Island office managing attorney. According to the news release, Prairie State represents many hundreds of clients each year in preventing domestic violence. preventing unlawful evictions.preserving their homes.obtaining and maintaining Medicaid, SSI and Social Security Disability benefits. keeping custody of their children. and resolving a myriad of other problems that involve their basic human needs.Go to pslegal.org for more information about Prairie State and its work.
