STERLING – Hope Delores Bailey, 94, of Sterling, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Regency Care of Sterling.

Hope was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Rock Falls, the daughter of William and Anna (Mickelson) Desmond. She married Benjamin Franklin Bailey on June 12, 1948, in Rock Falls. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2011. She was a beautician for more than 50 years. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family and friends. Hope was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sterling and the Mary Ruth prayer circle.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Alan) Burkett of Morrison; her son, Don (Grace) Bailey of Rockford; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, June Tousley.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by the memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls, with the Rev. Brad Wilson, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sterling, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church in Sterling and Vitas Hospice.
