Vote Marshall for city council

Published: Sunday, March 19, 2017 6:00 p.m. CDT

We are proudly supporting Ryan Marshall in his candidacy for Dixon City councilman. Having known Ryan for 10 years, we have seen him grow and mature into various leadership roles in the service of his community and know him to be a motivated and passionate spokesman for positive change.

He is a hard-working, sincere, and genuinely affable leader who has both great ideas and the perseverance to see them through.

He has experience in the Dixon Chamber of Commerce, the Dixon Main Street Board, the Lee County Board, and also has dedicated his time and services to many local task forces and transition teams.

As a "hometown" young man from our own community, he has a deeply personal commitment to the betterment of our town. Furthermore, he has the enthusiasm and openness to work collaboratively within the larger team to make the end result greater than the sum of its parts.

His economic development plan will expand both retail and industrial growth utilizing the new enterprise zone, bringing new revenue and jobs to benefit our schools, our public and municipal services, our larger county, and ultimately, each of us and our children.

This component of his platform is of particular importance to me and my family, and we have the utmost confidence he will succeed.

If anyone is unsure about who to support in the upcoming election, we encourage you to attend the local meetings and debates, meet with the candidates, ask questions, and challenge them. A well-informed vote is one of the most powerful tools that a citizen can wield in our great democracy.

We hope that you find Ryan to be a promising candidate and support him based on the strengths of his personality and his vision for a better Dixon.
