Ottens, Hochstatter, Young unanimous All-NUIC East

Milledgeville’s Kyle Ottens, Amboy’s Jordan Hochstatter and Polo’s Justin Young were unanimous selections to the All-NUIC East first team.

Juniors Cade Schave (Milledgeville) and Trevin Woodin (Polo) earned second-team honors. AFC seniors Joe Uphoff, Garrett Sanford and Stephen Brooke were named honorable mentions, as were Milledgeville senior Curt Strauss and Amboy junior Justin Hart.


Fleetwood, Eads named All-TRAC

Fulton’s Tyler Fleetwood (39-2) and Morrison’s Joe Eads (43-3) were the headliners of the all-conference selections for their state championships.

Six other Sauk Valley wrestlers were named to the first team. Newman’s duo of 106-pounder Kyle Tunink and 132-pounder Brody Ivey, as well as Fulton’s duo of 152-pounder Cole Grant and heavyweight Taylor Fleetwood claimed top honors.

160-pound state qualifiers Dylan Keller (Morrison) and Garrett Passmore (Erie-Prophetstown) also made the first team.


Sterling OL Goss commits to Dubuque

Sterling offensive lineman Max Goss will continue his football career at the University of Dubuque. Goss was a key cog for the Warriors’ 2016 team that made the Class 5A quarterfinals. Dubuque finished 8-2 last season.


Morrison trio headed to Dubuque schools

Morrison seniors Kassidee Church, Emma Sitzmore and Lauren Vos will all be continuing their athletic careers in Dubuque, but for three different schools.

Church will compete for Loras College’s track and field team. Sitzmore will play volleyball for the University of Dubuque, while Vos will play for Clarke University’s volleyball team.


Oregon’s White signs with Kishwaukee

Oregon’s Hailey White will continue her softball career for Kishwaukee Community College. White was an honorable mention all-BNC pitcher in 2016 after posting a 2.35 ERA. She also hit .468 and scored 26 runs.
