Delivering love notes in Sterling

Love was in the air – and the water – Tuesday as members of the Rock River Valley Barbershop Chorus headed out in full force to fan out across the area and deliver harmonies from the heart for Valentine’s Day. One of their stops brought them to the Duis Recreation Center, where Ed Floto (from left), Monty Coffer, Jim Brotheridge and Dave Zimmerman made one of their special deliveries to the Duis Recreation Center in Sterling. The poolside serenade was just one of several stops the quartet, along with two others from the chapter, made for Valentine’s Day. The Singing Valentines event is a fundraiser for the group's Youth in Harmony program, which teaches high school students from more than a half-dozen Sauk Valley schools about barbershop-style singing. Fifty bucks bought folks some romantic moments to remember, along with two songs, a box of chocolates, a rose and a card. People who want to hear the harmonies for themselves can attend the chorus’ annual show at 3 p.m. April 29 at Centennial Auditorium in Sterling.
