Missiles nip Marcos again

Sterling swims past Rocks, Comets at Duis Center

Milledgeville beat Polo 64-62 in an NUIC East game in Polo on Tuesday, scoring 23 points in the third quarter and 19 more in the fourth to bounce back after trailing 34-22 at halftime.

Kyle Ottens led the Missiles with 24 points, and Cade Schave added 17.

Braiden Soltow scored 22 points for Polo, with Justin Young adding 15.

​Sherrard 43, Erie 35: Justice Cole scored 14 points for the Cardinals in a road loss to the Tigers.

A.J. Hatlestad poured in 27 points to lead Sherrard.

Rockridge 46, Fulton 17: Gentry Whiteman tossed in 23 points as the visiting Rockets handled the Steamers.

Fulton (17-9, 5-3 Three Rivers West) got nine points from Cody Sanderson.

Riverdale 36, Morrison 32: The Mustangs lost a tight Three Rivers West contest in Port Byron.

Princeton 64, Bureau Valley 51: The Tigers put up 22 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for a Three Rivers East win in Manlius.

Kale Barnett led the Storm with 13 points, while Andrew Petros scored 12 and Nate Paup-Caudill added 10.

Colton Youngren led the Tigers with 20 points, and Colby Robbins added 19.


Sterling 160, Rock Island 117, Newman 37: The Golden Warriors picked up eight event wins to top the Rocks and the Comets at the Duis Center.

Sterling’s 400 freestyle relay team of Turner Morse, Robby Christensen, Jack Wike and Zach Wade took first with a time of 3:38.74. In the 200 freestyle relay, Wade, Wike, Morse and Arie Interone took first with a time of 1:38.74.

Wade won the backstroke with a time of 1:03.34, finishing just over a second ahead of Wike. Wike won the 200 freestyle in 1:58.50.

Morse won the 100 freestyle with Interone taking second, and the 50 freestyle with Nathan Conklin second. Chris Leal won the 500 freestyle in 5:44.74.

Sterling’s Brayden Wolf won the diving competition with 182.15 points.

Newman’s top finish came from Aiden Bollman, who took fourth in the 200 individual medley.

Men’s basketball

Malcolm X 84, Sauk Valley 67: The Skyhawks trailed by just three points (36-33) at halftime before falling further behind in a home loss to the Hawks.

Karson Arrenholz paced SVCC (13-10) with 17 points. Garrett Duffin was next with 15, D’Angelo Millon had 12 points, and Malcolm Mabry added eight rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots.

Dee’Quan Flemming led
Malcolm X with 25 points.
