WINTER HAVEN, Florida – Gregory T. Pfeifer, 61, of Winter Haven, formerly of Amboy, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016. He was a welder at Caterpillar for 30 years before his retirement.

Gregory was born Jan. 16, 1955, in Evanston, the son of George and Evelyn (Anderson) Pfeifer. He married Pamela S. Dunne on Nov. 17, 1973, in Franklin Grove. Gregory was a 25-year veteran of the Air Force Reserve, where he served on active duty during Desert Storm. He was a member of United Auto Workers. Gregory loved to golf. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years; one daughter, Tracy (Barry) Stevens of Amboy; one son, Brian (Darcy) Pfeifer of Phoenix; one brother, Charles (Sandy) Pfeifer of Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Bradley Pfeifer, Kaitlyn Stevens, Sheila Stevens, Brienna (Nathan) Rockwood, Barry Stevens II, William, Joey, Cassandra, Madison, and Creighton; and one great-granddaughter, Lydia Pfeifer.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Browne.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, with the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. Burial, with full military honors provided by the Dixon combined veterans organizations, will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
