We are very excited to bring our first (possibly of many) Ronald Reagan movie to the grounds of the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home at 816 S. Hennepin Ave. in Dixon.
Our inaugural showing of “Sante Fe Trail” will take place at dusk Wednesday. Movie fans are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets, pull up a section of grass, and enjoy this classic free of charge.
The piece is a biographical and entertaining classic starring Ronald Reagan, Errol Flynn, and Olivia de Havilland. It is the story of Jeb Stuart, his romance with Kit Carson Holliday, friendship with George Custer (Ronald Reagan), and battles against John Brown in the days leading up to the outbreak of the American Civil War.
Future monthly showings of Reagan classics may be offered if sponsorship is secured. Though the movies are older, licensing is still necessary to show these films to groups. Should individuals or organizations desire to sponsor future showings, please call us at the Boyhood Home, and we will be happy to discuss options for doing so.
The Boyhood Home also seeks other non-profit organizations interested in selling refreshments at the showings. Please call 815-288-5176.
In case of rain, we will bring the film inside to play in our DVD room at the Visitors Center (810 S. Hennepin Ave.).
Please join us for this fun community event. We look forward to seeing you.
Note to readers: Brandi L. Langner is the executive director of the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home.
