How to improve your business SEO and reach customers with sponsored content

Sponsored Content is a form of marketing that offers a business the opportunity to reach a targeted audience in a new way. While sponsored content can take on many forms, typically the method consists of articles and video created on behalf of a business.

The content is labeled as sponsored, and linked from a news or entertainment website back to the business website. The business is featured in the content, and recognized as the sponsor. If done correctly, sponsored content can be very effective in reaching consumers since it is delivered in the same form and function as other content on the website, such as news.

This method, commonly referred to as native content, has taken off in the online publishing industry in recent years. The content is displayed in relevant categories, and written in such a way to improve search engine results. So if someone is interested in car maintenance, they might come across an article that interests them in the local newspaper website, or they might conduct a search on Google and find the article that way. In either case, the viewer is then exposed to the advertiser's message by reading the article, and viewing the accompanying photo or video. 

There are some important elements to make sure that your sponsored content is effective as possible. First, make sure your content is created and displayed to improve your search results, or search engine optimization, SEO. Think about what words people use to search for your product or service on Google, and then use those keywords in your content and headlines. 

Create value with your content by being informative and engaging. Your article is not an advertisement, so don't turn off your reader by beating them over the head with a sales message. Rather, offer something of value, such as a helpful tip related to your product or service. 

Finally, make sure your video and article reflect your business' personality. Are you reflecting a fun, personable image? Keep the copy conversational and light so people aren't intimidated or turned off by your message.
