Volleyball: Dixon loses at home; Sterling, Newman fall in Quad Cities

Sommer Rhea had 16 kills and eight digs, teammate Emy Wright finished with 15 kills and 10 digs, and the Oregon Hawks finished off a hard-fought 25-23, 29-31, 25-22 victory over Johnsburg at the Blackhawk Center.

Delaney Mahoney added 43 assists and three aces for the Hawks (5-1-2) in the Big Northern crossover win.

Genoa-Kingston def. Dixon 25-16, 25-21: The Duchesses dropped a BNC crossover match at Lancaster Gym.

Amy Rotella had five kills and three digs, Phoenix Smith spiked four kills, and Haley Fitzsimmons ripped three kills for Dixon (1-2). Kacey Koch dished 11 assists, and Jessa Long added seven digs and three assists.

Rock Island def. Sterling 25-21, 16-25, 25-15: The Golden Warriors battled back after a first-set loss, but couldn't pull out a nonconference road victory.

Jailyn Borum led Sterling (1-1) with eight kills, 10 digs and six aces, while Kaylee Martin added seven kills, eight digs and two aces. Jordyn Koett had 12 assists, and Ali Olson dished nine. Taylor Hendrix stuffed three blocks.

United Township def. Newman 25-14, 25-23: Aubree Schmitt led Newman with five kills and four aces in a road loss.

Madyson Ferris added 19 digs for the Comets (0-2), and Mariah Staebell had six assists in the nonconference match.

Morrison def. Amboy 16-25, 27-25, 25-18: Lakin Goodman finished with 14 kills, eight digs, nine service points and three aces to lead the Fillies to a road victory in a Three Rivers crossover match.

Jordan Schmidt had 11 digs for Morrison (2-0), while Brooke Stralow added 18 assists and three blocks. Emma Sitzmore chipped in 14 assists, five digs and four kills.

Hallie Nauman and Sydney Wilhelm each spiked eight kills for the Clippers (1-2). Kennedy Dinges chipped in 12 points, 10 assists and five digs.

Erie def. Princeton 25-16, 25-18: Rachel Cobert's six kills and two aces led a balanced Cardinal attack in a Three Rivers crossover win on the road.

Peyton Rus added four kills, Mary Chapman had 13 assists and three kills, and Emily Cox had seven digs. Chapman and Savannah Miller chipped in five digs each.

Eastland def. Milledgeville 25-18, 25-20: The Cougars downed the Missiles in an NUIC crossover match in Lanark.

Kailee Forbes ripped 10 kills to pace Milledgeville, while Michelle Grevengoed recorded eight digs. Taniya Ritenour dished 12 assists and served two aces.

Bureau Valley def. Fulton 25-17, 25-18: Carlie Bickett had six kills, while teammates Heaven Bennett and Lindsey Hoffert each added five to lead Bureau Valley (2-0) to a home Three Rivers crossover win.

Fulton's Chelsea Lesniewski finished with eight kills, while Avery Leitzen had eight digs in the loss for the Steamers (0-1).

Prophetstown def. Kewanee 26-24, 16-25, 25-19: Claire Milnes had 11 kills, Clare Kramer spiked 10 more, and the Prophets (1-1) won a Three Rivers crossover match on the road.

Kassi Henrekin dished 15 assists, Maddie Fringer added nine more, and Jensyn McKinney and Shelby Adams each recorded 16 digs.

AFC def. Hinckley-Big Rock 27-25, 25-15: Krista Beach led AFC with seven kills, and Lauren Meurer had six digs in a win at Hinckley.

Katie Sondgeroth finished with 17 assists and Cassidy Koning added three blocks in the win for the Raiders (4-3).

East Dubuque def. Polo 25-16, 25-14: The Marcos lost an NUIC crossover match on the road, led by Kennedi Palmer's two aces and Jozi Grobe's two blocks.

West Carroll def. Forreston 25-16, 25-20: Abby Maike had eight kills, 11 digs and four blocks to lead the Thunder to an NUIC crossover win in Savanna.

Rachel Badtke chipped in three kills and two blocks for West Carroll, while Brianna Kampmeier recorded 20 digs. Paige Wilkins had 12 assists.

Faith Christian def. Serena 25-23, 25-10: Tressa Schuler finished with 24 digs and eight kills to lead the Falcons (5-0) in a home win.

Sarah Smith added 10 kills, four digs and seven assists, and teammate Stacia Hamill tallied 13 assists for Faith Christian.
