DIXON – Evelyn C. Burton, 102, of Dixon, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Heritage Square in Dixon. She was a beautician for 41 years and co-owned Mademoiselle Beauty Shoppe with her sister, Marian, in Dixon. 

Evelyn was born June 13, 1912, in Lanark, the daughter of William Henry and Achsa Mae (Paul) Kness. She married Donald Burton on Jan. 22, 1944, in Dixon. He preceded her in death Nov. 14, 1996. Evelyn was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon for many years.

She is survived by one sister, Marian Nealy of Dixon; one nephew, William (Janet) Nealy of Port Washington, Wisconsin; two great-nieces, Stacy (Mike) Mortensen of Racine, Wisconsin, and Amanda (Mike) Styles of Grafton, Wisconsin; four great-great-nieces, Emma, Ally, Avery, and Mia; and three great-great-nephews, Luke, Chad, and Ethan.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Helen Bernice Keim.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Janet Wittenmyer, pastor, officiating. Private burial of cremated remains will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.

Memorials have been established to the St. Paul Lutheran Church flower fund and Heritage Square.
