Quinn campaigning in Rock Falls today

ROCK FALLS – Gov. Pat Quinn will make a campaign stop at La Familia restaurant, 201 W. Second St., at 6 p.m. today.

Owner Dave Barajas said he had offered the restaurant as a campaign site for the Democratic governor several weeks ago.

"I approached them through Rep. Mike Smiddy, and they called us yesterday morning to confirm they were coming," Barajas said.

The Rock Falls visit is among several stops at cafes and fast-food eateries planned by the governor's camp today. Quinn also is expected to meet with restaurant workers and local residents in Kankakee, Champaign, Decatur, Peoria and Galesburg.

Quinn is expected to focus on the minimum wage, a hot-button issue in his race against businessman Bruce Rauner. Quinn is a strong supporter of raising the minimum wage, while Rauner opposes it.
