MORRISON – Bernice D. Engelkens, 102, of Four Seasons Living Center in Morrison, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at the center. She did private housecleaning. 

Bernice was born Oct. 11, 1911, in Morrison, the daughter of Benjamin and Kate (Fisher) Decker. She married Edward O. “Ted” Engelkens on April 13, 1933, in Morrison. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1982. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison.

Survivors include one daughter, Elaine McCollam of Bettendorf, Iowa; one son, Robert Engelkens of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She also was preceded in death by five sisters, Jenny Aggen, Effie Huizenga, Ella Pyse, Grace McCoy, and Henrietta Wiebenga; and four brothers, Falkert, John, William, and Albert Decker.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Ken Renkes, director of congregational care at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

A memorial has been established to Ebenezer Reformed Church.
