STERLING – Stanley E. Stockton, 76, of Sterling, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at his home in his sleep.

He was born June 6, 1938, in Rockford, the son of Jess and Myrtle (Wescott) Stockton. He served in the Marine Corps. Stan married Diane Bradshaw on Sept. 5, 1959, in Rock Falls. They were married for nearly 55 years. Stan worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years through Local 150. He was a member for more than 45 years at First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling,

Surviving are his wife, Diane; his daughter, Debbie Dean of Sterling; his son, Brad (Bethany) Stockton of Owosso, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling, with the Rev. Robert Hasselbring officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

Memorial contributions in honor of Stan Stockton may be made to First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling.
