Event on Saturday for Honor Flight

DIXON – Lee County Honor Flight and Dixon police will sponsor a ceremony to honor veterans and a bags tournament Saturday between Galena and Hennepin avenues.

The ceremony will be at 2 p.m., at Hennepin Avenue and First Street. About 60 local veterans, many of whom are veterans of World War II and the Korean War, will be recognized.

Registration for the tournament will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Adult teams will have two players 16 and older at a cost of $20 per team. Children’s teams compete for free. Prizes will be awarded. All proceeds will help send veterans on future Honor Flight trips to Washington, D.C. The cost per veteran is $500. Registration materials will be available for veterans and their guardians.
