Arthur C. Walzer

LA MOILLE – Arthur C. Walzer, 89, of La Moille, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at Mendota Lutheran Home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Mendota, to Henry and Martha (Simkins) Walzer. He married Doris R. Miller on April 19, 1947, at St. Patrick Church in Arlington. He farmed his entire life in the La Moille area. He also worked at Del Monte and Skelgas, and drove a La Moille school bus. He belonged to the Town and Country Saddle Club and Tri-City Saddle Club for many years.

He is survived by two sons, Ronald (Mary Jane) Walzer of Gracemont, Oklahoma, and Roger (Denise) Walzer of La Moille; one daughter, Sharon (Darrell) Full of La Moille; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded by his wife on Sept. 19, 2007, and a sister, Dorothy Brown.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Church in Mendota, with the Rev. Tom Otto, celebrant officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Mendota.

Memorials may be made to Illinois Valley Hospice and Mendota Area Senior Services.
