Everett W. Gaffey

ROCK FALLS – Everett William Gaffey, 89, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Everett was born Oct. 1, 1924, in White Pigeon, the son of William Everett and Margaret (Habben) Gaffey. He married Lorraine Love on May 31, 1952, in Morrison. Everett farmed for most of his life in Whiteside County. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; three daughters, Fern Gaffey of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Jean Gaffey of Mount Prospect, and Moira Gaffey of Woodruff, South Carolina; two sons, Thomas Gaffey of Rexburg, Idaho, and Darren Gaffey of Rock Falls; two granddaughters, Jessica Rice of Greer, South Carolina, and Adriana Gaffey of Tampa, Florida, and one sister, Marion (Victor) Winkleman of Clinton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Ellen Gaffey, in infancy; and one sister, Luella Popkin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with the rosary recited at 4:45 p.m., Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.
