DIXON – Ronald S. “Ronnie” Ridenhour, 67, of Dixon, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at his home.
He was born Jan. 17, 1947, in Dixon, the son of Vincent and Yolanda “Dolly” (Catalina) Ridenhour. He had worked at Kable Printing in Mount Morris, Holley Agri Systems, Byron Nuclear Plant, and Heritage Auto Sales in Oregon. He owned Shotgun Lawn Care, and was a school bus driver for Dixon Schools. He was a veteran of the Army.
He was the head of umpires for the Oregon and Byron park districts. He was an avid supporter of the Atlanta Braves, Chicago Bears, and Boston Celtics. He enjoyed following the local sports teams. He played in many euchre tournaments, and enjoyed his Friday night card games with his poker buddies.
Ron married Jill Davis on May 9, 1969, in Dixon. They renewed their vows on Aug. 9, 2014.
Survivors include his wife; children, Stephen (Heather) Ridenhour of Mount Morris, and Becki (Tyler Shaw) Davis of Dixon; four grandchildren, Jordan and Cameron Ridenhour, and Jayden and Shaylee Davis; his mother, Dolly Ridenhour of Grand Detour; one brother, Robert “Bobby” (Roxanne) Ridenhour of Grand Detour; two sisters, Mary Jo Ridenhour of Dixon, and Debra “Debbi” (Bill) Post of San Tan Valley, Arizona; special nieces and nephews, Chad “Woody” Coffey, Krystal Ridenhour, and Kendra Ridenhour; six great-nieces and -nephews; and his aunt, Iris Osborn of Dixon.
He was preceded in death by his father, three uncles, four aunts, and special uncle, Joseph Catalina.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Frank Langholf officiating. Burial, with military honors by the Dixon combined veterans group, will be at Grand Detour Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.
