PEORIA – Shirley A. Noble, 78, of Walnut died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Unity Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

Shirley was born on Oct. 1, 1935, in Sublette, the daughter of Orville and Millie (Foss) White. She was united in marriage to Arden Noble on June 6, 1954, in Walnut. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2008. Shirley worked at First National Bank in Sterling for 2 years and then at Citizens First State Bank in Walnut for 13 years. She also worked at the Bureau County Courthouse in the clerk and recorder office for 3 years and in the treasurer’s office for 4 years, retiring in 1998. Shirley was a member of First Christian Church of Walnut, where she served as church treasurer for many years. She loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Ann (Noble) Doering of Davenport; two sons, Douglas Arden (Robin) Noble of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Bradley Alan (Jackie) Noble of Morrison; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Charles Orville White.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the First Christian Church of Walnut, with the Rev. Brian Moore officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to First Christian Church of Walnut and the ALS Foundation.
