Edward was employed with several area school districts as a school administrator for the past 34 years, retiring out of LaGrange School District 105 in June 2002. He was a member of the Illinois Association of School Administrators and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, having recently completed his own aircraft. He was an avid historian and member of the Mount Carroll United Methodist Church. His passions in life included flying, fishing, trap shooting and photography. More than anything, he loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Olds of Mount Carroll; one daughter, Sarah (Chad) Ward of Sycamore; one son, Nathan (Nicole) Olds of Geneva; two sisters, Linda Olds-Steinert and Mary Ellen (Tim) McNinch, both of Sterling; one brother, Christopher (Lori) Olds of Sterling; four grandchildren, Isaac Ward, Avery Olds, Ethan Olds and Ainslee Olds.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Mount Carroll United Methodist Church. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Mount Carroll United Methodist Church.
