Police looking for armed robbery suspect

CRESTON – The Ogle County sheriff’s office is investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store early Sunday.

The sheriff’s office said the robbery occurred at 4:30 a.m. at the Casey’s General Store at 204 E. state Route 38 in Creston. The suspect, wearing a white surgical mask, displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the store employee, police were told. It is believed the suspect left the store on foot. The sheriff’s office would not disclose how much money was taken.

The store cashier was not injured.

The robber was described as a male, probably Caucasian, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall with an average build. He was wearing dark-colored pants, a dark-green fleece jacket, a gray T-shirt, and black stocking hat. He also might have been wearing bedroom slippers.
