Army Pvt. Trevor Peters has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the 9 weeks of training, the soldier’s studies included the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and physical fitness. He also received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, and field training exercises.

Peters, the son of James and Jodi Peters of Byron, is a 2012 graduate of Stillman Valley High School.

Air Force Airmen Joshua C. Mills and Tyler C. Westlund graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

The airmen completed an intensive, 8-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward a degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Mills, the son of Deborah A. and Raleigh A. Mills of Sterling, is a 2008 graduate of Sterling High School.

Westlund, who earned distinction as an honor graduate, is the grandson of Syl Glazek of Dixon, and a 2013 graduate of North Boone High School in Poplar Grove.
