Man listed serious after accident in Rock Falls

Moped runs into back of car

ROCK FALLS – A Sterling man was in serious condition Wednesday afternoon at a Rockford hospital, 2 days after being involved in a crash at First and Fourth avenues in Rock Falls.

According to a news release, Brian Muntean Jr., 18, was riding a moped north on First Avenue about 4:20 p.m. Monday when he hit the rear bumper of a northbound car driven by 48-year-old Jorge Armando Romo-Mauricio, of Rock Falls.

Muntean was taken to CGH Medical Center then transferred to Rockford Memorial Hospital.

The crash is under investigation, and charges are pending, the release said.
