Extra efforts helped summer meet succeed

On June 21, the second annual In Tune with June track meet took place at Dixon High School. I wanted to thank the Dixon High School administration and staff for welcoming the event with open arms.

I was able to meet with coaches and grounds crew in advance to ensure all equipment and resources were on hand.

A special thank you is extended to Coach Evan Thorpe, Jamie Anderson (who painted all our sector lines for throws), and Ricky Nelson (who worked the day for us at the meet). Everyone truly worked over and beyond to help make the meet a great success.

We had athletes from five states, and everyone commented on the warm welcomes and professionalism of the staff and facilities.

Also, thank you to the volunteers who worked the meet. Your time, expertise, and energy are to be commended.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
